Much of our work as coaches involves supporting professionals as they develop the skills needed to progress. This is true of managers or senior associates looking to "step-up" or of partners who want to lead differently.  However, we don't stop there...

All of our training delivers experiential learning to help drive behaviour change. When working with professionals and thinking about how they can become trusted advisors to clients, as well as leaders in their firms, we often turn to the skills we have as coaches. These skills make better leaders.

The ability of leaders to use coaching skills is widely recognised as fundamental to success. For this reason, we have teamed up with Coaching On the Go to help professionals understand what they do well, what they can improve on, and crucially, how their environment might be getting in the way.

WHAT IS COACHING ON THE GO?

​The Coaching On the Go GIZMO is the creation of Dr Phil Renshaw and Dr Jenny Robinson. Using extensive academic research they have devised a tool to measure the 15 key coaching skills leaders need.  These are key to adopting a leadership style that works for the challenges of today - and tomorrow.

Coaching On the Go is devised for busy professionals. It recognises that leaders use coaching in a distinctly different way from coaches. They need to use coaching skills in everyday activities - and they need tools to help them do this. Many leaders attend expensive coaching training, often with some of the leading coaching providers, but they still come away wanting. Leaders aren't going to be having formal coaching conversations and instead need practical ideas that they can use "on the go".

Coaching On the Go 

  • Coaching On the Go is focused on behaviour and the environment in which the behaviour is showing up. It measures organisational culture and thinks about its impact. 

  • Given the focus on behaviour - which is changeable - this is not psychometric.  Behaviours are coachable and context and culture-dependent.

  • Coaching On the Go uses behavioural experiments to ensure stickability and generate change.

  • If used by a number of professionals in the same firm, it can generate learning about the spread of capabilities in a group AND it can generate a combined view of organisational culture.

  • The philosophy underpinning the tool is that everyone has the potential to demonstrate leadership capabilities, irrespective of hierarchy or job title. This is crucial for professional services firms, who need teams to work collaboratively to deliver for their clients.
